Messaging a seller and making an offer

Unlocking a listing opens a direct line to the seller. No introductions to wait for, no broker in the middle.

Starting a conversation

After you unlock a listing, a message option appears on the listing page. Conversations live in Dashboard → Messages and are tied to the specific listing, so you will not lose track of which machine you were discussing.

Sellers are notified by email when you message them. Most reply within a day or two.

What to ask before you commit

The listing tells you a lot, but these are the questions that catch problems early:

  • How long has the machine been at this location, and what is the agreement with the site owner? A machine is only worth its location. Ask whether the site agreement transfers to you.
  • What are the last few months of takings, and can I see the raw records? Compare against the revenue proof on the listing.
  • What is the service and restocking arrangement? Who does it now, and can you take it over?
  • Any recurring faults? Coin mechanisms, card readers, and cooling units are the usual suspects.
  • What is the age of the machine, and is any warranty still live?
  • Why are you selling? The listing states a reason — see whether the answer in conversation matches.

Ask for a viewing. Any serious seller will accommodate one.

Making an offer

You can submit an offer from the listing once it is unlocked. An offer is a formal amount the seller can accept or decline — it is not a binding purchase on its own.

  • The seller sees your offer and can accept or decline.
  • An accepted offer sets the price for the purchase; you then complete payment through escrow.
  • Offers can expire, so if you have not heard back, follow up in the message thread.

You can have offers out on more than one listing at a time. Nothing is committed until you actually pay.

After an offer is accepted

Accepting an offer does not move money. The purchase still runs through the normal escrow flow: you pay, the funds are held, the seller accepts and hands over, and you release. See our article on how escrow works for the full timeline.

Keep the conversation on the platform

We know it is tempting to move to a messaging app once you have someone's number. Two reasons not to:

  1. Evidence. If a dispute is ever filed, on-platform messages are what our team can actually see and act on. Screenshots of an off-platform chat carry much less weight.
  2. Protection. A deal arranged entirely off-platform and paid in cash has no escrow behind it.

By all means arrange the viewing by phone — but keep the terms, the numbers, and the commitments in the platform thread.

If a seller stops replying

Give it a few days — many sellers are operators with routes to run. If a seller has gone silent for more than a week on a listing you paid to unlock, let us know. We follow up with sellers who repeatedly leave buyers hanging, and we will look at the unlock on your account.
